Hi Michael,
this says that you have 2 optical drives:
/dev/hdc is a 48 speed dvd-rom
/dev/hdd is a 48 speed cd-r/rw
so, either its;
apt-cdrom --cdrom=/dev/hdc add
or
apt-cdrom --cdrom=/dev/hdd add

 step #1 open the drive
 step #2 put cd/dvd in drive
 step #3 issue the command
 step #4 hit any key
 step #5 the command will close the drive
 step #6 the drive light will blink 
 step #7 it will read the data and finish
