Re: start xdm at boot

Hi Arvind
files in /etc/rcN.d are actually links to init scripts in /etc/init.d
What you should do is

ln -s /etc/init.d/xdm /etc/rcN.d/S99xdm

bye

Hi all,
I have debian etch installed with icewm window manager. I want xdm sevices
to start at boot so that i get the gui login. I changed the runlevel in
/etc/inittab from 2 to 5. But still xdm services do not start at boot. So
I checked my /etc/rc5.d/ directory and found that there is no file S99xdm
in that directory. Nor a file S99xdm exists in /etc/rc4.d/ or /etc/rc3.d/
What do i need to do so that the system will create S99xdm file in
/etc/rcN.d/ (N=3,4,5)?

Thabnks and Regards,
Arvind
