xserver-xorg: recent upgrade blowed out my X server

Hi
I can't start my xserver anymore, though everything worked fine last week.

I am running debian testing, with an S3 video card (S3 Inc. VT8375 [ProSavage8 KM266/KL266]  from discover) and Xorg.
Running startx I obtain a "simple" 

(EE) No device detected

Fatal server error:
no screens found

Any ideas?
