Debian and Ubuntu sharing apt-cacher?

I have some ubuntu machines living inside of a debian firewall machine that point to an apt-cacher archive on that machine. It looks to me that I could have the same archive serve both distributions. This would be useful because I have two other debian machines on the same network. It looks as though I could put all of the debian debs in the import directory and run the perl script to put them in the packages directory. Am I missing anything?
