accessing usb-storage device that doesn't register as scsi

I got this wierd usb storage device today with I'm trying to access under
linux. The initialization message from dmesg:

usb 1-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 9
usb 1-2: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
SCSI subsystem initialized
Initializing USB Mass Storage driver...
scsi0 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices
usb-storage: device found at 9
usb-storage: waiting for device to settle before scanning
usbcore: registered new driver usb-storage
USB Mass Storage support registered.
Vendor: CBM1180 Model: Flash Disk Rev: 2.00
Type: CD-ROM ANSI SCSI revision: 02
usb-storage: device scan complete

No scsi disks show up though (or any others I recognize) and under windows it
installs as both a cdrom device and a usb-storage device.

Any ideas?

Thanks
