The main problem is the Linux kernel's swapping. It is slow regardless
the distribution and kernel (2.4 or 2.6). Win98 with FireFox 1.5,
AutoCad, Office (running together!) works well with such limited
hardware resources. There is no fast linux kernel in this sense, even in
DSL.
