For further clarity, I followed the amd64 howto (I've now done this a
few times) and installed the 64bit system first and then the 32bit
chroot.  After following the instructions to run 32bit apps within the
64 bit system, OOo, firefox with flash and realplayer to play stuff
within firefox, all run fine.

I've just applied the nvidia install as described by Wackjacko earlier
and it all works fine.

Seems the way to go.
