Both IBM-Aptiva desktops I have/had suspend to ram very well on severalLinux distributions: old-mandrake, Debian, Ubuntu, Suse.

A year old IBM-NetVista will not on any distributions: Debian-test/sid,Ubuntu, Suse.

I never got suspend>disk to work on any desktops. Havn't tried suspend2lately.

As to thinkpads, suspend>disk only with Ubuntu and Suse unless you wantto re-compile kernel. Suspend>ram, no problem with most distributions.
