That's your problem.  aptitude sucks.

Try apt-get.  I'd start with:

# apt-get --purge remove libx11-6 x11-common libxau6

There will need to be multiple iterations of "COLUMNS=120 dpkg -l"
to grep for any remaining files.

Is "common sense" really valid?
