Not so here in the UK. All petrol stations are government run, and fuel can only be pumped by a sacred few. There's a considerable waiting list to become an attendent - one of the "pumpers" (or "squeezers" if you're south (saaf) of the river). The certifcation is stringent to say the least - and rightly so. We've seen the back of sand on the forecourt. Thank goodness.
