I can't find messenger.xul anywhere in Debian. (I ran an apt-file search
over stable, testing and unstable.) Therefore I suspect that it is a
file which is created by mozilla-messenger when a user runs the program
for the first time.  Maybe your .mozilla profile directory has been
corrupted. You could try to rename the directory and then start
messenger again. If that gives you a new, working profile directory then
you can just copy the abook.mab file into the new profile and it should
be possible to export your data as LDIF.
