Why are you messing around with LILO?  LILO is obsolescent, if not
obsolete.  (I've forgotten; perhaps LILO still was an option with
Woody.)  You should be using GRUB, which is the boot loader which newer
Debian systems install by default.

Go to another machine and Make yourself a GRUB boot CD (or, if you
prefer, a boot floppy).  You can boot from the GRUB CD, and then repair
your system.  Everybody ought to keep a GRUB boot CD handy!
