removing a chroot directory

Hi,

I tried to install a chroot environment in an AMD64 machine, but decided
against it before completing the task. This is what I did (as root)

,-----[ attempt to chroot ]
| $ mkdir -p /var/chroot/sid-ia32
| $ debootstrap --arch i386 sid /var/chroot/sid-ia32/ http://ftp.debian.org/debian/
`-----

Is it safe to simply say 'rm -rf /var/chroot' outside this directory, or
should other tools be used?

Thanks,
