It is possible that jack is being started some other way; if you are using 
Gnome (I guess from your earlier posts) I think Control Centre > Sessions > 
Startup Programs is one way it could happen.

Otherwise, try asking on the Agnula lists; they may add a script to start jack 
somewhere.
