Well, it appears it isn't possible to configure aptitude to ignore
dependency errors.  I ended up editing /var/lib/dpkg/status, adjusting
the 'Depends' line to keep aptitude quiet.  In the future, I can add the
dependencies back to the 'Depends' line should I desire.
