xmgrace (package name grace) and ddd. For both it is not possible to enter
text into their console, or into the pop-up windows (xmgrace).

Your point is well taken. I have just posted something about this. Because there
is no stable AMD64 release for Debian, we are at the mercy of a moving target. 
Interestingly, Fedora Core has exactly the same problems in a nominally stable
release.
