hello i have a stupid problem that is driving me mad.... i have a medion sim2010 laptop and want to (finally) activate the wlan part.... so i downloaded the firmware for the ipw2200 chipset installed on the laptop, and the thing boots nicely until the dreaded message: May 18 19:02:53 localhost kernel: ipw2200: Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2200/2915 Netwo rk Driver, git-1.0.8 May 18 19:02:53 localhost kernel: ipw2200: Copyright(c) 2003-2005 Intel Corporat ion May 18 19:02:53 localhost kernel: ipw2200: Detected Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG Ne twork Connection May 18 19:02:53 localhost kernel: ipw2200: Radio Frequency Kill Switch is On: May 18 19:02:53 localhost kernel: Kill switch must be turned off for wireless ne tworking to work. now that stupid killswitch only produces May 18 19:12:08 localhost kernel: atkbd.c: Unknown key pressed (translated set 2 , code 0xf6 on isa0060/serio0). May 18 19:12:08 localhost kernel: atkbd.c: Use 'setkeycodes e076 <keycode>' to m ake it known. May 18 19:12:09 localhost kernel: atkbd.c: Unknown key released (translated set 2, code 0xf6 on isa0060/serio0). May 18 19:12:09 localhost kernel: atkbd.c: Use 'setkeycodes e076 <keycode>' to m ake it known. when hit, unloading and reloading the module afterwards yields no effect... reading through the stuff that google spits out on that topic i tryed the acerhk module. Compilation goes fine, but when i try to load it i get: FATAL: Error inserting acerhk (/lib/modules/2.6.16-1-686/extra/acerhk.ko): Cannot allocate memory And unfortunately the support for that thing is gone... i also looked at rfswitch but have not the right bios for those too... so what solution might i have? i don't mind echoing stuff into some /proc register.... -- ciao bboett ============================================================== bboett@adlp.org http://inforezo.u-strasbg.fr/~bboett ===============================================================
