Thanks for this trick,  but seems that doesn't works.  I don't see errors in 
my X, log, but I've run

benjami@itaca:/usr/share/fonts$ find . -type d -exec mkfontdir {} \;

And now have 

$ find . -type f -name "font*"
./fonts.cache-1
./ttf-dejavu/fonts.cache-1
./ttf-dejavu/fonts.dir
./sjfonts/fonts.cache-1
./sjfonts/fonts.dir
./dustin/fonts.cache-1
