Hi,

I've had the same problem (xserver-xorg 6.9.0.dfsg.1-6, Debian testing,
Matrox G550) and I've managed to solve it by fiddling with the Matrox
driver sources a bit and compiling both the driver and the HAL lib
myself.  I've documented it here:
