RE: Install Debian 3.1 on a new Dell PowerEdge 2850



Hi,

We had a similar problem with our Dell PE2800 recently.  At the moment, you have no choice but to install with the default 2.4.27 kernel and then compile your own 2.6 kernel afterwards.

Btw, can you do a "cat /proc/cpuinfo" on your system and tell me how much cache it sees (under "cache size")?  We're suppose to have 2MB L2 cache, but Debian sees only 16k o.O

No.
You can install it.
You just need to provide *precise* information.
