If the two drives are from the same batch, perhaps the same problem
exists in both. I've read recommendations regarding RAID set-ups to the
effect that you should avoid buying multiple drives made by the same
manufacturer from the same source at the same time, to cut down on the
risk that all of your discs will be taken out if you fall victim to a
manufacturing glitch with a particular batch.
I have no way of judging whether that's sound advice or paranoia, however.
