I heard something about win32...don't-know-what...but I don't
remember its name.

Does anyone remember?

Thanks in advance.

Juan Javier.

WMV is microsoft's windows video format. It is not free and therefore
there is no program in debian which can handle these files. But you
can add another source in your /etc/apt/sources.list to download
codecs from another site.

deb ftp://ftp.nerim.net/debian-marillat/ sid main

then you can `apt-get install w32codecs` package

Hi, Richard, Kelly and list-readers out there!

Many thanks for your help!
dpkg -s shows it is installed. I did not remember I had it already installed.
I had already that line written in my sources.list. I apologise for this, more
fool me...:-P

But I don't manage to watch `wmv' streams. Is there any wmv-linux-howto out there
which I could read?

A final question: Is there also a `real-audio' streams-on-linux-howto anywhere?

Many tv stations use to webcast using these two formats, and I would like to enjoy
the streams using VLC, which in fact I use already to watch many other TV stations
that *do not* use such codecs, but others. Any idea on this?

Regards,

Juan Javier.
