Re: Unable to write reliably CD-RW's!

Debian users,

Thanks for all the advice, but unfortunately it didn't help much, sorry! I'm slightly disappointed that such a basic tool, like burning CD's, with Debian GNU/Linux 3.1 Sarge rev0a (kernel 2.4.27)is so impenetrable. The Lite-on LTR-24102B has been tested on a Windows-XP machine and it worked perfectly! I've tried a new CD/DVD-writer (BenQ DW1650) on my Linux box with exactly the same problems, something is written to the CD-RW but the newly written disk can not be mounted. Running cdrecord gives no hints of possible problems using the -v option.

Is there a way to diagnose the system to look for possible problems? I've included the dmesg output of my very system. I don't know whether the discussion list debian-user is the correct place to ask for an explanation of possible problems related to not being able to write a descent CD-RW!

The system's mainboard is a K7T266 Pro2 ver.:2.0 ATX (MS-6380), with an AMD Athlon processor.

Please give it a try!

Gerard
