Certainly a flame war is the last thing I'm interested in also.

As negative as "it's not changing" may seem, take a look at the idea
from a broader perspective. There are numerous Debian based help
lists and web sites, including the Cromm-knows-how-many on
lists.debian.org, Debian Planet, Planet Debian, Debian Help, and so
on. Just a quick query on Netcraft.com for all the sites with
"debian" in the name is truly astounding. The "Debian" community is
huge!

In all seriousness, it is very likely that if the debian-user mailing
list is not functioning to your satisfaction there is another forum
that will serve your wishes better.

Compromise is nice, and indeed the response could have been, "thank
you for your suggestions, we will take those issues into
consideration as we move forward." The response you received was
harsh, but then so is "If you don't make the changes I want you to
make to your list I'm going to cry."

The Debian maintainers, list managers, systems administrators, et al,
are providing a very useful service free of charge. They are giving
me, and you, the benefit of their efforts freely. This list is
*their* property, and it behooves a user to treat it as such.

It is easy in this world of so-called "democracy" and other illusions
to lose touch with the etiquette of private property.
