ctl-alt-F2 or F3 not switching to tty2 or tty3: running kde

Hi,

I always boot into console mode and use startx to start kde.

I just noticed that when I type ctl-alt-F2 or F3 I am not switching to another
console. Nothing happens.

(typically i want to do something in a basic console or i want to start
another X as another user...).

I am puzzled, I never saw this before.

The only things i have done are
1. upgrade my sid box to xorg.
2. I also invoked the options
Section "InputDevice"
        Identifier "Generic Keyboard"
        Driver "keyboard"
        Option "CoreKeyboard"
        Option "XkbRules" "xfree86"
        Option "XkbModel" "pc104"
# Option "XkbLayout" "us"
        Option "XkbLayout" "us,il"
        Option "XkbCompat" "group_led"
        Option "XkbVariant" "lyx"
        Option "XkbOptions" \
"grp:switch,grp:alt_shift_toggle,grp_led:scroll"

in my /etc/X11/xorg.conf. My /etc/inittab still says I have the other
consoles and they work as long as X isnt started. It must be an xorg thing??

Any idea what is wrong?

It is nice to suspend X and go back to console without having to
ctl-alt-backspace to kill it.

Mitchell
