In addition to all the other answers you've gotten, you could go my route (provided your Debian installation isn't "mission critical") and upgrade to Sid, which currently has KDE 3.5.1.
I installed Sid a few weeks ago and all things considered things are running pretty well. A few minor inconveniences here and there, but I don't mind since I have current (or nearly current) everything.
