If you're going to run debian, you should learn to make use of it's resources....

A simple 'apt-cache search calendar' will show a list of many programs that can
do what you want, all easily setup by debian.

I personally use egroupware.  Since it's web based, I can access it from
anywhere.  It can do many more things than calendaring, but you can limit it to
just calendaring if you would like.
