can i be sub'd but not receive posts?

hi all,

just sub'd to this mailing list.

i would like to be able to post and i would like to 
have no posts delivered to me.  i'll read the list 
from gmane.

is this possible?  if so, is there a smartlist command 
i can issue to effect this change or do i need to 
contact the list admin?
