Building complex packages,conversions and alien

jupiter:~# alien --scripts --to-deb
MySQL-server-5.0.18-0.glibc23.ppc.rpm

jupiter:~#

Trying to convert directly I got the above. So I
converted the above file
to MySQL-server-5.0.18.tgz and then from .tgz to
mysql-server_5.0.18-2_all.deb.
All seemed to work well and because the rpm is of
binaries structured
according their placement in the file system,at first
sight I don´t see here
any futur concern but I have not installed so far.
Any opinion about potential problems with this kind of
method?
I used alien-8.60 the latest in Debian testing.

                                  Thanks.
