Hmmm, in which case you'll probably need to download one of the latest d-i
installer snapshots - see http://www.nl.debian.org/devel/debian-
installer/builds. I expect (but don't know) that the latest daily builds for
sid are using 2.6.12.
It'll run the installer on this kernel, but will actually install etch, which
I think is 2.6.11, if this is also too old for your drive you might have to
bodge in your homebuild until an official 2.6.12 becomes available.
