As of March or so, fully-patched Windows XP boxes, as long as firewall
is not blocking the attack, are vulnerable to a DOS lasting about 20-30
seconds whenever a packet is sent to them containing the same source and
destination addresses. (Or at least, that's my very rough understanding.)

I suspect someone "out there" is spoofing your Linux box's address and
LAND-attacking your Windows box.
