That ntptime package used to be used to synchronize a computer's clock with ntp servers on the internet. However looking with apt- get doesn't find that package anymore. Also astrolog is missing though I saved that earlier and was able to iinsttall it on this instance of the operating system, are there some really useful lines recommended for adding to /etc/apt-get/sources.list to find some of the software like astrolog and maybe other useful packages?

I'm guessing you're looking for ntpdate for one-shot NTP time updates, although I'd recommend running ntp-server if you want to make sure a system keeps good time.
