Bug in KDE clock applet

On boot the KDE clock applet sets the system time to the hardware time. However, the hardware time is set either manually or by the applet rdate, run either on boot or automatically or manually while the box is operational.

Rdate, when run, sets the hardware clock to UTC time. However, the KDE clock applet does not permit configuration of the local time in relation to UTC. Thus if rdate is used, the KDE clock applet will be set to UTC time.

So, in order for the various time zone offsets in the applet to be effective, the hardware clock has to be set manually to local time. Consequently anyone wanting to use the KDE clock applet cannot use rdate.
