The problem has been fixed with the command
dpkg --force-confmiss -i /var/cache/apt/archives/x11-common_6.8.2.dfsg.1-10_all.deb
which has installed all missing cofiguration files (suggestion from
the people from the X-Strike team); thanks to all that answered and
all that read this.
