how to make subtitles draw on 'black band' under gmplayer
Hi debianers,
I am using gmplayer to play avi format movies that come with subtitles.
However, when I play the movie, the subtitles are drawn directly the
picture and hinder the view of the picture.
My question is how to configure mplayer to make it draw subtitles (both .sub
and .srt) on the 'black band' of widescreen avi movies?
In mplayer's man page, I found this:
----------------
expand[=w:h:x:y:o]
Expands (not scales) movie resolution to the given value and
places the unscaled original at coordinates x, y. Can be used
for placing subtitles/OSD in the resulting black bands.
<w>,<h>
Expanded width,height (default: original width,height).
Negative values for w and h are treated as offsets to
the original size.
EXAMPLE:
expand=0:-50:0:0
Adds a 50 pixel border to the bottom of the
picture.
<x>,<y>
position of original image on the expanded image (de‐
fault: center)
<o> OSD/subtitle rendering
0: disable (default)
1: enable
----------------
and configured my .mplayer/config like this:
expand=0:-950:0:0:1
Frankly, I don't quite sure what these parameters are doing and I just add a
very large number to see the difference. But I didn't notice any differece.
Could anyone help with this?
