You may find that the module names have changed. There were a number of
such changes from 2.4, so I guess that from 2.2 there will be even more.
Rather than try to track them down I would suggest that you use the facilities
if the new kernel and packages such as discover and hotplug to do all the hard
work for you. If you install these packages almost all hardware will be
automatically detected and you will not have to worry about figuring out
what to load. Of course if you want to find out what it loaded for you then
lsmod will tell you, and dmesg will track the loading.
