Very occasionally but often enough to be a pain, when there is an initial problem connecting to the internet, certain scripts hang up. Repeated attempts fail for whatever reason and "top" shows a long list of "sh" processes stuck around. While I do not know what script is responsible, my stuff, I can at least have some control over--how does one put a time-out limit on a bash script?
