Make sure you're logged in as root, then:

# su cyrus

If you need to script it look into the -c switch for su (`man su`).

# su cyrus -c "<path_to_app> <args>"

If you're still having trouble tell us the exact steps you're taking,
including any error messages or pertinent log entries.
