I tried to listen to mp3 with totem (i just found out about it..) and it works!?!?!?!?
WTF?!?!
xmms & xine & vlc still don't play sound????????!!!!!!!!???????????
I'm lost hear!! (altough i'm quite relaxed now that i got my music with totem he he he :-)) )

Maybe its files were deleted accidentally?
Try:
# aptitude reinstall libmikmod2

Do you have these files installed:
