script with passwd

a newbie question :
even if it is not secure I would like to know how to
write a script with the passwd command without having
to enter the passwd.
more generally, how to answer question to a script
with always the same response
I ve tried
echo passord |passwd user
but the passwd need to be put several times (two
exactly).
