i usually keep a small partition /boot on one of my ide disk's while
putting the system to scsi. make a small (~50M - i also put a small
busybox rescue sysstem there) partition at the beginning and exclude
this one from the raid. this will IMHO save you lot of troubleshooting
if there are fs problems.
