X-Server Question

Could anyone confirm that the possibility exists for Woody (3.0r5) to be 
installed successfully with an ATI Radeon X700 and ViewSonic VP191s 
combination (in an AMD64 Athlon system)? I've tried with a Debian 
derivative and had no success, so I thought that I should try the "real 
thing".

I'm not asking for a "Howto" at the moment, just confirmation that it's 
worth the effort before I invest a few hours.
