harddrive or ide controller problem, please help to diagnoze
Hi, all
smartd writes horror things into the log. 2 weeks ago I moved my server
to the cellar *and* installed new ide pci сontroller.
Apr 28 09:43:00 thinker smartd[2740]: Device: /dev/hdc, 1 Currently
unreadable (pending) sectors
Apr 28 09:43:00 thinker smartd[2740]: Device: /dev/hdc, 1 Offline
uncorrectable sectors
Apr 28 09:43:00 thinker smartd[2740]: Device: /dev/hdc, SMART Prefailure
Attribute: 8 Seek_Time_Performance changed from 251 to 252
Apr 28 09:43:00 thinker smartd[2740]: Device: /dev/hdc, SMART Usage
Attribute: 195 Hardware_ECC_Recovered changed from 252 to 253
Apr 28 09:43:01 thinker smartd[2740]: Device: /dev/hde, 1 Currently
unreadable (pending) sectors
Apr 28 09:43:01 thinker smartd[2740]: Device: /dev/hde, SMART Prefailure
Attribute: 8 Seek_Time_Performance changed from 246 to 247
Apr 28 09:43:01 thinker smartd[2740]: Device: /dev/hdg, SMART Prefailure
Attribute: 1 Raw_Read_Error_Rate changed from 54 to 52
Apr 28 09:43:01 thinker smartd[2740]: Device: /dev/hdg, SMART Usage
Attribute: 195 Hardware_ECC_Recovered changed from 54 to 52
hdc and hdg are connected to the new controller, hde to the mainboard
controller.
Also dmesg shows such a message:
APIC error on CPU0: 40(40)
And, of course
hdc: dma_intr: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
hdc: dma_intr: error=0x84 { DriveStatusError BadCRC }
ide1: reset: success
Where should I start from? Can this messages be caused by
problems/conflicts with the new controller? Is smart functionality
implemented completely on hard drive and does not depend on controller
failures?
I have a bit high humidity in cellar, temperature is ~18 C.
lspci:
0000:00:0e.0 RAID bus controller: Silicon Image, Inc. (formerly CMD
Technology Inc) PCI0680 Ultra ATA-133 Host Controller (rev 02)
Everything is from sarge
