Hi Caveman,
Have you looked in KDE's Control Centre>Sound & Multimedia>Sound System
to make sure your settings are correct? Go to the Hardware tab and make
sure that Advanced Linux Sound Architecture is selected. You also need
to check the Full Duplex checkbox. Under the General tab make sure the
Enable the sound system is checked. Also can you send the results of
doing $lsmod. You should see snd_emu10k1 in there.
