Just a little question, are you sure your eth0 is still eth0 and eth1 is 
 still eth1 and so on? I had a similar problem a few weeks ago and 
discovered that after the update, my network cards were being detected 
in a different order. The solution (not elegant though) was to put the 
modules needed for the eth cards in /etc/modules in the order you want 
the cards to be detected.
