Not got this to print duplex yet but at least with the Brother printer I
can print direct and get 1:1 whereas for the HP printer I was getting
1/4 prints!

Yes, that seems to work (the latter, not tried the former); thanks.

To answer, my own Q, I am running Gnome so had to also set default
printer in (GnomeMenu) Applications-Desktop Preferences-System
Tools-Printing
