Ciao Marco (sono di Roma),
did you check that under 2.6.11 your network device has the name you 
expect ? Does it match the /etc/network/interfaces content (such as
iface eth0 inet dhcp) ? Which DHCP client are you using ? Do you have 
other machines on the net and/or can sniff DHCP requests on the LAN ?
