The Intel Extreme Graphics 2 actually is an i845 chipset, on my machine
# lspci
gives me
0000:00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corp.
82845G/GL[Brookdale-G]/GE Chipset Integrated Graphics Device (rev 03)
You have to run the i810 xserver which only supports this chipset from
XFree86 4.3 upwards, afaik. See [1] for more information, there is also
a wiki with info concerning DRI linked somewhere from xfree86, google is
your friend.
When you have upgraded to at least XFree86 v4.3 see the i810, XFree86
and related manpages for more info. It should not be very hard to have a
working setup with the info found in the above named sources. If you
still need help after reading the named documentation (especially the
driver's homepage) thoroughly you may contact me or the list.
