a local pc surplus store here ( haltek, santa clara ) has old 486 and 586
etc class laptops on sale for $5 - $10 range

i just want the lcd display but i don't wanna fiddle around with
the lcd controller and power supply

- i think converting p3 and p4 into 11" deep 1u style chassis is a good
thing too ( more old pcs can look modern/functional ) in the [st/r]ack
- just don't try to run kde/gnome on 64MB of memory on 486 box
( it works, but is dog slow... and in console, you wont notice
much until you save jig-a-byte file )
