If the samba shares the printer, the box on wich samba runs is the

If the printer is not locally connected to your box, you should not
declare it as a local one.

What is your printer manager on the local box: CUPS?
You should then edit /etc/cups/cups.client  (or something like that,
browse you FS) and put the IP address of your printing server into the
ServerName field.

Why wouldn't you use Cups on both client and server?
That would be easier, according to me.
